In 2014, we partnered with Campbell River Fire Rescue to provide training opportunities in auto extrication. We support the Burnaby Firefighters by donating cars to practice auto extrication procedures. Innovations by the automobile industry have resulted in increased safety for vehicle passengers, but in a serious motor vehicle accident they make the job of firefighters more difficult and dangerous. The same reinforcing that protects the vehicle occupants can impede efforts to treat and/or free them from the wreckage. Therefore it is critical that firefighters have the opportunity to practice stabilizing vehicles and treating and/or extricating the patients.
