Case Study: Gibraltar Mine
Located in south-central British Columbia, Taseko Mines’s Gibraltar copper-molybdenum mine is the second-largest open-pit copper mine in Canada and the largest employer in the Cariboo region. As a cornerstone of the provincial economy, Gibraltar is a state-of-the-art, award-winning operation with a processing capacity of 85,000 tonnes per day and a life-of-mine average annual copper production of 130 million pounds. Decades of continuous modernization and investment have enabled the mine to operate responsibly and profitably through multiple market cycles, reflecting a long-term commitment to sustainable resource development.
ABC Recycling plays a critical role in supporting Gibraltar’s ongoing operations by delivering efficient, reliable, and responsible metal recycling services. Since the start of the project, our team has safely removed and processed ferrous material and liners, ensuring materials are managed in a way that supports operational efficiency and environmental stewardship. From logistics coordination to on-site execution, our approach is grounded in safety, precision, and consistency.
Our partnership at Gibraltar Mine highlights our expertise in supporting complex, high-volume industrial operations and underscores our role in advancing the circular economy within Canada’s mining sector—transforming end-of-life materials into valuable resources while helping our partners operate more sustainably.
