Partners for sustainable business development

Indigenous Community Relations

At ABC Recycling, we recognize the vital role of Indigenous participation in the Canadian economy and are committed to building strong, respectful, and mutually beneficial relationships with Indigenous communities, businesses, organizations, and individuals. Our commitment is rooted in meaningful action and guided by the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP) and the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action, specifically Call to Action #92. We believe that reconciliation is an ongoing journey, and we are dedicated to taking positive, concrete steps to foster long-term partnerships and create economic opportunities.

Our approach to Indigenous engagement is built on four key principles:

Business Development

We dedicate resources to establish and grow business partnerships with Indigenous communities and enterprises.

Community Relations

We actively engage with Indigenous communities, providing time and resources to build meaningful relationships.

Leadership Actions

We set clear commitments and continuously evaluate and strengthen our Indigenous relationships.

Employment

We invest in initiatives that support equitable representation of Indigenous Peoples in our workforce.

Our Commitment in Action

ABC Recycling is a proud member of the Canadian Council for Indigenous Business (CCIB), an organization that fosters economic partnerships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous businesses. Through our membership, we support initiatives that promote sustainable economic prosperity for Indigenous communities while strengthening our own corporate culture of inclusion and respect.

PAIR Program

As part of our ongoing commitment, we are actively engaged in the Partnership Accreditation in Indigenous Relations (PAIR) program. In 2024, we successfully completed Phase 1 of PAIR and are now working through Phase 2, further strengthening our Indigenous partnerships and reconciliation efforts.

Indigenous Peoples Commitment Policy

In 2019, we formalized our dedication to reconciliation with the publication of our Indigenous Peoples Commitment Policy. This policy guides our approach to working with Indigenous communities, ensuring that trust, respect, and collaboration remain at the core of everything we do. By embedding Indigenous engagement into our daily operations, we are committed to fostering long-term, sustainable relationships that create shared value and meaningful opportunities.

At ABC Recycling, we understand that reconciliation is more than a promise—it’s a responsibility. We remain committed to listening, learning, and taking action to support Indigenous economic empowerment and community well-being.
