Karen Alko Receives Family Business Magazine Award

ABC Recycling is proud to recognize Karen Alko, our Community Relations Manager, who has been named one of Family Business Magazine’s Transformational Women in Family Business for 2025. A fourth-generation owner of ABC Recycling, Karen carries forward a legacy that began in 1912 and has helped shape the company into Western Canada’s largest independently owned metal recycler. Over her 25-year career, Karen has held roles across sales, brokerage, administration, and human resources, giving her a deep understanding of the business and a strong foundation for her current work in community relations, governance, and legacy planning. Her leadership, commitment to sustainability, and dedication to strengthening both family and community connections reflect the values that have guided ABC Recycling for more than a century.
