Protecting our planet

Metal Recycling and the Environment

Metal recycling plays a critical role in environmental protection by decreasing reliance on raw material extraction. By diverting recyclable metal from landfills and reintroducing it into the supply chain, recycling metals such as steel, aluminum, and copper conserves natural resources, reduces energy consumption, and lowers greenhouse gas emissions compared to primary metal production. However, the process also carries environmental risks if not managed properly. Responsible recycling practices are essential to minimizing these risks while maximizing the environmental benefits of metal recovery.
